Our commitment to responsible investing.

We live in a rapidly changing society that faces growing inequality, unsustainable climate changes, and increasing standards for transparency and governance. We aim to address these challenges by integrating Environmental, Social, and Governance (“ESG”) considerations into our investment and decision-making processes.

Our thinking on responsible investing is guided by our values of partnership, responsibility, diligence, and excellence. Our commitment has been evolving since our founding. In 2017, Welkin became a signatory to the United Nations Principles of Responsible Investing. We are constantly improving the way we measure and track our ESG progress, and ultimately, to drive positive impact.

Equal opportunity

We create opportunities for smaller businesses to share in the growth of China’s immense economy. Together with our portfolio partners, we promote more shared value creation through employee ownership and profit sharing. Welkin is an employee-owned firm and the majority of our people are women.

Environmental action

We work with our portfolio companies to track carbon emissions and develop plans to reduce carbon footprint. We actively seek investments in companies developing interesting solutions that advance environmental action, from carbon neutrality, to sustainable agriculture and beyond.

Governance

We believe integrating ESG factors into our investment process is consistent with our fiduciary duty to our investors. We take governance and transparency seriously and actively promote high standards of corporate governance, accountability, and regulatory compliance across our investments.
